Spiritual Comfort After an Abortion - 10 page booklet
"Spiritual Comfort Before and After An Abortion" by Anne Baker and Rev. Annie Clark is a composite of prayers, thoughts, and responses from sensitive clergy to some of the most troubling questions and thoughts before and after an abortion (or abortions). Rev. Annie Clark and I discovered that if the pastoral counseling was for AFTER an abortion, there was mostly compassion and sincere desire to help the person acknowledge and receive forgiveness and understanding. We distilled the best of the best responses and put it in the booklet. We want to e-publish it, but in the meanwhile it can be purchased through The Hope Clinic online at the website: http://www.hopeclinic.com)

Name: Day Of Prayer and Healing
Type of Help: Retreat day for those suffering from post abortion
Contact Person: SR. John Joseph
Resource: This is the fifth year of "Days of Prayer and Healing" at the Sisters of Life in the Bronx, NY for women and men suffering from a past abortion. The day is conducted by a woman who is a counselor and post abortive herself. The Sisters and a priest assist with the day and although it is centered on the Catholic sacraments people from all faiths and walks of life are welcomed and have in fact come and benefited from the days. Once someone has gone through one of the retreats, there is a monthly group beginning with prayer and then addressing various post abortion issues.

PHD is the Society for the Preservation of Human Dignity, a non-profit counseling center for pregnancy help and education located near Chicago. All programs are free.
Among the programs offered are Post-Abortion Counseling in Individual, Group, and Retreat settings.
I have only recently discovered that I have PASS. I was referred to PHD from my gyne, and I have to say that if you are anywhere near the Chicago area, this is the most caring, supportive environment anyone could ever want.
I was seen the same day I called by Kathleen Pluth, a counselor who serves as Associate Director. I felt immediately at ease and was just amazed that not only did she understand what I was going through, she was incredibly supportive. It is obvious she has had extensive education in PASS.
Other programs and services include:
Crisis Intervention
Sexual Readiness and Abstinence
Counseling on any issue concerning pregnancy and early childhood parenting for individuals, couples, families, grandparents, and birthfathers
Support Groups for single mothers, families, and grandparents
Adoption Decision Making and Post-Adoption Counseling
Grief and Loss Counseling for help in coping with the loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, or death
Pregnancy Testing and Decision Making
